A: They listen, encourage, coach, offer growth opportunities, and challenge us to be our best.

A: People with a spark, people who may bring something we don’t have or are not a strength of ours, people who want to work hard (this work isn’t always easy).

Q: How do you stay motivated as a team member when the going gets tough?

A: I have friends, my Burris Family, both in my location and at others that I can reach out to at a moment’s notice. They always support, help, coach, guide, and most of all, listen. They remind me why we do what we do at Burris.

I also have an amazing support system at home. My wife and daughter are why I do what I do. They know some days will be long, and they may not see much of me, but they also know Burris allows us to enjoy all the experiences life in Florida has to offer us. 

Q: What are the most important perks or benefits to you and your lifestyle?

A: The insurance coverage for my wife and child is huge, as well as being able to be open and honest about who I am. I’ve had to stay quiet about being gay in the past, but being authentic and bringing my whole self to work allows me to be the best leader I can be.

They understand that we all have lives outside of these four walls. We all take on our roles to the fullest, so we can support and enjoy the time away with our families. Working for Burris allows me to do all of this. 

Q: How does working for Burris allow you to pursue your dreams and hobbies outside of the workplace?

A: The flexibility and autonomy allowed by Burris make it easy for me to not only be here for the Team but be at home for my family. I’m all for working crazy hours to support the Team because I know when I am not here, they are doing all they can to support and influence our safety culture.
